Got a question? We've got answers! Check out our frequently asked questions (FAQ) below!
How do I get started?
It is easy to start! Get in touch with us and start attending classes. As you progress and want to learn new skills, come to Open Gym or schedule Personal Training for more learning. Equipped with an understanding of key concepts and fundamental movements you will be able to build a good base of fitness and be able to progress quickly during CrossFit workouts. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for an introductory class!
Do I need experience or some minimum level of fitness?
No -- our workouts and exercises scale to any level. We've had everyone from athletes to deconditioned/out of shape people starting and they've all done well. We will work with you to find the appropriate level of intensity for you and your workouts.
I have/had an injury. Can I still do CrossFit?
We are coaches, not medical doctors or physical therapists. We need to know the specifics of your injuries so we can work with your medical doctor to scale and substitute exercises and tailor workouts to your abilities. Many of our members have successfully used CrossFit as part of the way to rehabilitate from injuries. Because people continue to move, work, and play in the real world regardless of injury history, we believe the best route to long-term health is to learn perfect form on functional movements, then to slowly build strength in those movements, rather than to avoid them altogether. At the same time, we cannot offer you specific medical advice, and advise that you consult your physician before starting this (or any other) exercise program. Just ask a trainer if you want a referral to a medical professional.
I'm really fit and would like to start with the Performance Track, can I do that?
We'd need to check and see that you are competent in all the movement/exercises we use in our classes. If you think you are, just see a trainer and we can arrange a chance to review things with you to see if you're ready to go!
I'm just visiting Chiang Mai, but I am an experienced CrossFitter visiting from another affiliate. Can I come workout?
We welcome experienced CrossFitters from all over! Please give us a heads up of your visit by emailing us at email@example.com first, and check out our schedule online.
What are the membership options?
We have one membership level, and you can attend as many days a week as you like.
When are fees due and how do I pay them?
Fees are due monthly. At this time we are only set up to accept cash. Please see a trainer to pay your fees. We have discounts for families and teachers.
How do I change my membership option?
We operate on a one month schedule beginning the day of your 1st visit. If you need to make a change to your membership please notify a trainer at least 7 days in advance.
Can I put my membership on hold?
If you are going to be gone at at least 2 weeks we can put your account on hold. Please notify us by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) one week prior to your leaving. Be sure to include when you are leaving and when you will be returning.
How can I cancel my membership?
Memberships can be cancelled on the date of your monthly renewal. Notification that you would like to cancel must be done by sending an email to email@example.com at least 7 days in advance of the first of the coming month.
I’m going to be on vacation for a week or two next month, can my fees be discounted?
We do not prorate fees. Our fee schedule runs on a monthly basis. If you need your membership put on hold for 2 weeks or more that can be done -- just let us know!
Can I just come to CrossFit Chiang Mai and work out on my own?
We have time set aside for individual work everyday we are open during Open Gym. We are more like a Muay Thai or MMA gym than a typical commercial gym. We offer classes, workshops and small group sessions, where people work out under trainer supervision, as it yields better, safer, and faster results than having people simply use the facility by themselves. If you are an athlete working on a specific program and need a space to train Olympic weightlifting, rowing or similar, get in touch with us about options for Open Gym.
Do you have showers?
Yes we do! We have showers and hot water. Bring your own soap and a towel.
Do you have drinking water?
Yes. Please bring a water bottle and you can fill up for free. We do sell bottles of water if you forget yours.
Where should I park?
You can park along the street in front of the gym.
What's with all the flags?
Chiang Mai is a very international city. We hang a flag up for each member or visiting CrossFitter who has trained at CrossFit Chiang Mai. We've got 40+ flags up and counting!
